Race Day!
In anticipation of the Borgess Run for the Health of It 5K race, this entire week my stomach has been tied up in knots and I have had the first anxiety attacks that I've had in 14 years! I have been talking in my sleep for the last few nights and having dreams of being late for the start. Poor Doug hasn't had a decent night's sleep in several days.
So do you want to know how I did? The Borgess 5K race results are listed on the Classic Results site (my bib tag number was 583).
My original goal at the beginning of training was to get under 35 minutes--aim high I say! Last week at Run Camp we ran the course so that we knew what to expect on race day. I killed myself on the first hill that was just after the first mile and struggled the rest of the way. By the end I managed to finish the course right at 33 minutes. I revised my original goal for this morning and hoped to get in under my time from last week. My strategy of taking it nice and easy on the first mile and getting past that first hill still intact paid off! 31 minutes 11 seconds! I have been on cloud nine all day and I can't wait for my next race which should be the Susan Komen Race for the Cure on May 20 in downtown Kalamazoo (click here if you might want to sponser me...please). New goal 30 minutes.

Wow - your first of many road races... way to go kid!!! I'm very proud of you -

That's great that your injury didn't prevent you from running in your first road race. Congrats and best of luck on your next race!

Allison, you rock! I am so proud of you--your time was really good! I'm running my first 4-mile loop tomorrow morning (I've done 4 miles on the treadmill, but not outside with hills and such), so wish me luck!
